Pool Maintenance & Service Options

Seasonal Service

Pool Openings

We remove and clean your cover, reconnect and test all equipment, clean the pool, balance the water chemistry, and run the system to make sure everything works before you need it. If we find a problem—cracked pipes, a failing pump, or equipment that did not survive the winter—we let you know what needs to happen and give you options.

Pool Closings

We blow out all lines to prevent freeze damage, add winterizing chemicals to keep algae and bacteria from taking over while the pool sits, lower the water level, plug the returns and skimmers, and secure the cover. Skipping any of these steps can lead to cracked plumbing, stained surfaces, or a green swamp when you open in spring.

Ongoing Maintenance

Routine Maintenance

Weekly or bi-weekly visits include skimming the surface, vacuuming the floor, brushing walls and steps, emptying skimmer and pump baskets, testing and adjusting chemical levels, and checking equipment operation. We also keep notes on what we see—water loss, equipment noise, wear on parts—so small problems do not turn into expensive repairs.

Water Testing & Chemical Balancing

Unbalanced water causes cloudy pools, skin irritation, equipment corrosion, and surface staining. Bring a water sample to our Loveland store and we test it for free—pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, chlorine, and stabilizer levels. We tell you exactly what to add and how much, or we can handle chemical adjustments as part of a maintenance visit.

equipment repairs & replacement

Liner Replacement

Vinyl liners typically last 8-12 years before fading, stretching, or developing leaks. When yours shows age—wrinkles that will not smooth out, thin spots, or constant water loss—it is time for a new one. We help you pick a pattern, drain the pool, remove the old liner, inspect and repair the pool base if needed, and install the new liner with proper fit and tension.

Equipment Repair

Pump motors burn out. Heaters develop leaks. Salt cells stop producing chlorine. When something breaks, we figure out what failed, explain what it will take to fix it, and give you an honest answer about whether repair or replacement makes more sense. We work on all major brands and can source parts for equipment we did not install.

Equipment Upgrades

A 15-year-old single-speed pump costs 3-4 times more to run than a variable-speed model. Old heaters lose efficiency and cost more to operate every season. If your equipment is past its prime or your energy bills keep climbing, we can show you what a replacement would cost and how long it takes to pay for itself in lower operating costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of pools do you service and maintain?

Aquarian Pools & Spas can service and maintain vinyl liner, fiberglass, and gunite (concrete) pools. You don’t have to have bought it from us either. Contact us with any specific questions. We’re happy to help.

How long does a vinyl liner pool last?

Latham vinyl liner pools are highly durable, often lasting 25 years or more, and are backed by a lifetime, non-prorated, transferable warranty on the steel panels. While the steel structure lasts decades, the vinyl liner usually needs replacement every 8–12 years. Proper water chemistry is the single biggest factor in liner longevity.

Water that’s too acidic or too heavily chlorinated will break down the liner material faster than normal wear and tear. Sun exposure, sharp objects, and improper winterization can also shorten the life of a liner. Keeping your water balanced and closing your pool correctly each season will go a long way toward getting the most out of each liner before replacement is needed.

How much does a vinyl liner pool cost?

In the Cincinnati area, vinyl liner pools typically initial investment range from $50,000 to $70,000 depending on size, shape, and the features you choose. That includes excavation, the pool structure, liner, and basic equipment. Custom shapes, upgraded liner patterns, lighting, heating, and water features will all affect the final number.

Lifetime ownership cost is higher, though, considering liner replacement approximately every 10 years runs between $3,500 and $6,500 each time.

How much does it cost to replace a vinyl liner?

Vinyl liner replacement in the Cincinnati area typically costs between $3,500 and $6,500 depending on the size and shape of your pool and the liner material you choose. Thicker liners and custom patterns tend to cost more but can also last longer and look better over time.

It’s worth factoring liner replacement into your long-term cost expectations when choosing a pool type. Over the life of the pool you may replace the liner two or three times, which adds to the total ownership cost compared to a fiberglass pool where the surface is built into the shell.

Can vinyl liner pools be converted to saltwater?

Yes, vinyl liner pools can be converted to a saltwater system. The main consideration is that salt can be harder on certain pool components over time, including metal fittings and the liner itself if water chemistry isn’t kept in balance. As long as the system is properly installed and maintained, a saltwater setup works well with a vinyl liner pool.
